What’s My Word of the Year?

I have shared on here before that I do not do new year resolutions. I never stick with them so what’s the point in making them.

However, this year I wanted to bring something with me into the new year so I decided to do a word of the year.

What is a word of the year, you ask?

It’s a word that you choose to create an impact on your year with. You take this word and apply it to every day life and any decisions you make moving forward.

My word for 2022 is FOCUS.

I chose FOCUS as my WOTY because I have spent the better part of the last few years focusing on everyone else around me and putting myself and my needs/wants/mental health on the back burner. I want to change that this year. I want to FOCUS on me more.

Obviously I will still make sure my family is taken care of, that goes without saying.

I have come up with a list of things that I want to spend more time on this year that will allow me to focus on myself and my well-being, both physically and mentally.

These are in no specific order:

  • reading
  • drives by myself
  • time away to myself
  • getting into a better sleeping routine
  • drink more water
  • breaks from social media
  • STOP ALLOWING GUILT TO RULE MY LIFE WHEN I AM NOT BEING PRODUCTIVE
  • get outside more

Those are just a few ways that I can ensure that my focus is on me and my mental/physical well-being. These may look like resolutions and you might be right. I am not looking at them that way, though. I am looking at them as small ways that I can put my FOCUS back on me.
