Today’s Q&A will be with my 13 year old daughter, Autumn. I thought it would be cool to have her answer some questions sent in and see how she answers them now and where she is in a couple years.
1. If you could meet any character from any book, who would it be and what would you say to them?
Annabeth Chase from Percy Jackson and the Olympians. She wants to be an architect, too, and we both like to read. If we were to meet we would most likely end up talking about architecture. You know, if she was real.
2. What advice do you have for your younger self?
My best advice for my younger self is to not eat all of your good Halloween candy on the first night. I just went trick or treating for my 13th year and I still do it without thinking. Oops.
3. What do you want your older self to always remember?
I can’t think of something, I’ll come back to this when I know a good answer.
4. What career do you want to go after and why?
I want to be an architect because I like designing things, especially different styles of houses. Plus, who wouldn’t wanna be able to point at different houses and say “I designed that!” Cars would be cool, too, but that ain’t happening.
5. What is your favorite book and/or book series and why?
Maze Runner by James Dasher because it kept me wanting to know what happened next. A lot of the books that I read I can kinda guess the end, but with this series the end was a total surprise. I would have changed some small pieces – Teresa wouldn’t have died and neither would Newt.
6. If you could accomplish one thing in your life, what would it be?
I think it would be cool to design my own house. I’d want it to be in the woods, but close to stuff I need, like gas stations and stores. I’d have a fence in my backyard. The house would be small – one story – and it’d have a room with built in bookshelves and beanbags. Another room would have a giant 70” TV, an xbox One, a 360, and a PS3. That backyard would be filled with a giant jungle gym, huge swing set, a tire swing, and a pool that is possibly heated.
7. Which do you like better books or movies and why?
Books, definitely. It almost seems like it’s a rule that books must be better than movies. Except for The Maze Runner movies, they did okay on those ones. Books are always better because there are more details, more personality in the characters, and the plots always seem more deep.
8. Do you like being homeschooled? Would you go back to public school, given the choice?
I do like being homeschooled but I haven’t been to public school since third grade so I would like to go back to public school for a year, just to see what it’s like now that I am older.
9. What are some of your hobbies?
Shooting, mountain biking, drawing, reading, and anything we go to the mountains I take the kayak out on the river. Mountain biking is my favorite, though, because it’s the most exciting.
10. If you could trade places with anybody for one day, who would it be?
Valeria Terravechia from Kingdom of Engines. She lives in a medieval world where cars are giant war machines with guns. I would want to be her because she has the fastest, craziest car in the book. I think it would be fun to live there. She also has good friends.
11. What is something you are really looking forward to?
I look forward to getting a small house in the middle of the woods, with an older pickup truck to carry my bikes to Pocahontas park. I look forward to being able to eat ice cream and chips for dinner without being yelled at. But most of all, I look forward to being able to drive in 3 years.
12. If you could choose any animal to be your pet, what would you choose and why?
I always thought having a German Shepard around would be cool. It not one of those, a Golden retriever would be nice as well. A dog that is playful and energetic.
