An Open Letter to My Husband

Today is my amazing husband’s birthday so I wanted to do something special for today’s post.

To the love of my life – my best friend,

First thing I want to say is thank you. Thank you for choosing me and continuing to choose me everyday through this amazing journey we call life.

We have been through many ups and downs over the years but through it all you have remained by my side as my shoulder to cry on, my rock, and my strength when I was too weak to keep going. You have never guided me down the wrong path. Even in our worst moments you stood right there, waiting for me to open my eyes and realize what was going on.

I have come so far in my journey of self-worth and self-love because of you. You have helped me along the way, sometimes unknowingly, and I will never be able to repay you for that or thank you enough. At one time I did not believe I was worthy of love but you have worked so hard to show me just how worthy I am. Again, I thank you.

You’ve helped me push through my past. You’ve helped me push through postpartum depression. You’ve helped me push through my anxiety. You’ve helped me push through life.

When we met I was a 14 year old child who was hurt way beyond her years. Now, at 31, I’m a loving mother to your three children. Something I never wanted in life but now I cannot begin to imagine my life without these beautiful girls. Sure, I always thought I’d have kids but it was never something I fiend for until I met you. You, and your never ending love, made me NEED to be a mom. I needed to feel that connection with you, as parents. I needed to experience the love only a child can show you. So, thank you for that as well.

As we’ve taken this journey through life together I never imagined we would be where we are today – with nothing standing in our way. The breakups.. the called off engagement.. all of that never stopped us from trying. We kept pushing, kept working, and look at us. Stronger than ever.

You’ve not only been an amazing husband through this you’ve also been an amazing friend. One that I am beyond grateful for. Most people would have walked away when shit got hard but you.. you stayed, you helped, you guided me, and you loved me.

You’ve loved me hard. You’ve loved me strong. You’ve loved me soft. However you saw I needed loved, you did it without ever thinking twice.

You’ve been more than a husband to me these last (almost) 8 years. You’ve been my best friend, my rock, my strength.. you’ve also been my soulmate. Which, to me, is the most important of them all.

Through all of this I have learned that with the right person marriage comes easy. I’m so very thankful that I met you and that I have had this amazing life with you by my side. I will never forget how much effort you put in, especially in those times I didn’t offer much at all. You have never let me down. You’ve never made me second guess any decision I’ve made regarding this marriage or relationship.

There are no words that describes the love and affection I have for you but I hope that my actions show you just how much you mean to me.

I love you so very much. Forever and for always.

Sincerely,

Your wife & best friend.
