As most of you are aware I graduated with my Bachelors degree in May and I originally planned to take some time off. I wanted to spend time focusing on other parts of my life. I still want to focus on those parts of my life, however, I have decided to go back to school. Crazy? I know!
In the almost two months that I have been done with school I have noticed that my mental health has been worse than normal. I live for a full plate and chaos, hence the name of this blog! I’ve realized that not only do I feel better when my days are busy but I also function better! So come August I will be in a psychology program and I couldn’t be more excited!
Why psychology, you ask? Well, I’ve always enjoyed learning about how the mind works and how our behavior ties in to many different aspects of our life. Not only that but it will also help me when it comes to my career path once I’m done with school. Having a degree in psychology will allow me to better understand my patients/clients and that will in turn give me the chance to help them in a more personalized way.
When you are working in hospice a lot of counseling is involved, especially as a social worker, to both the patient and the family and friends of the patient. Having a better understanding of the mind, our behaviors, and all that comes with psychology will give me the opportunity to connect with my patient on a stronger level.
As stated earlier, I couldn’t be more excited to begin this next chapter of school. When I’m out in the field working with my patients I want to be able to provide the absolute best care to them. So all of this schooling will be well worth it in the end!
Until next time,
xoxo
